Prayer is simply the expression of the human heart conversing with God. It’s a dialogue between those who love each other. As in any conversation, talking and listening go together. We encourage you to talk with God as you would a friend who cares for you deeply… then listen.

A Prayer of Beginning
Find a place where you can quiet your mind, breathe deeply, and allow yourself to feel God’s presence. Read the following prayer. If it resonates with you, consider using this prayer to express your heart to Jesus.

Jesus,

Thank you for loving me. I recognize I have been living in spiritual darkness and separation from you. I have tried religion and my own ways and have found it tiring and impossible.

I believe you came to bring us new life. You died on a cross and you rose again to life.

I now turn to you. I give myself to you—my body, mind, and spirit. Forgive me for my every thought and action that has furthered my separation from you and others around me.

I give you the place in my heart that you really deserve. I invite you, Jesus, to come and live your life in me and through me!

Thank you for hearing my prayer and for sending me your Holy Spirit.
